  3. I think that toad in the second photo is indeed a frog and that is frogspawn for sure, frog spawn is in a clump but toads come out like a neclace that is the only way i can describe it. it is alot harder to spot to.

  5. Yes I saw that one too. There were a few of them on the other side of canal and they were making a lovely noise. I`m definately learning about my toads and frogs this year. There was a toad on the side of canla I was on. Do they often all breed in the same area?

  6. Toads will go back to the same place they were spawned so its not uncommon to see great numbers of them frogs are a little less picky they will spawn in a puddle sometimes which is no good at all, I regulary walk down by the river that runs past my house and there are many little ponds that stay all year but find a lot of frogspawn in puddles and little pools that I know wont be there in 2 or 3 weeks and so take the kids down with a bucket and go on a frogspawn saving mission, I know we are not to mess with nature but I feel that there were so many more frogs, toads, newts, slow worms and even snakes about when I was a kid growing up ( and I am only 32 now ) I feel they just need a helping hand sometimes.

  7. Thanks for that Phil. I am a lot older than you and I am very sad that I dont see anywhere near the wildlife I did when I was a child. I look at crows and blue tits and think oh its just a crow/blue tit but whos to know if they will still be around in 50 years time.
